Managing Shopping Lists with Reminders and Siri

June 24, 2016 By Brian

Reminders AppDo you ever find yourself forgetting to pick up milk or eggs at the grocery store? One of my favorite methods to manage my shopping lists is to use a combination of Siri and the Apple Reminders app that is pre installed on every iPhone. This allows me to always have my shopping lists with me (stored in my phone) and I can add items to the list as soon as I realize we need them.

Watch this video to learn exactly how to set up and use this technique.

Shopping Lists in Reminders

I create and maintain a separate shopping list for each category of store that I visit frequently. Personally, I have “Grocery”, “Walmart”, “Lowes”, and “Costco” lists. My Walmart list actually overlaps to Target and even a few other similar department stores. Your lists should reflect where you shop most often. When I get to the store, I simply open the cooresponding list, and can be sure I’m picking up everything we need.

Adding Items to a List

Adding items to a list is easy. I simply tell Siri, “Add eggs to my grocery list,” and Siri adds the item to the grocery list. If you are shopping for a dinner recipe and have several items to add, then it is usually faster to just type those items directly into reminders. However, for example, when you see that there are only two eggs left in the carton, this works really well.

It’s a great way to manage your shopping lists. I think you will like it, so watch the video and learn how to get a little better organized today!
